Cupboard Eve

Cupboards are delivered tomorrow afternoon.  phew.  We are kind of on the home stretch before moving in.  That does not mean that we don't have a million more projects, just that we will be functional.

David was at the house until 3:30 AM the other night finishing floors.  They are all done but about an hour or so worth of work in the foyer and front room.  That will be done in the morning because John the Sander-man is coming over tomorrow night to help Dave with the sanding.  David sent me a tutorial link about finishing floors that I thought was helpful.  Good stuff.  We are going straight to polyurethane after sanding, we aren't staining the floors, just like the tutorial, so the finished floors will look similar.

Below are a couple pictures of a small little dream of mine come true.  When our kitchen designer said that our refrigerator was going to be sticking out from our cupboards about 8 inches I was sweating a little.  He said it is normal for refrigerators to stick out like that, they all do.  I guess normal is 6 inches though??  Apparently I bought a deep fridge???  I never thought about the depth before and if it would work...
I didn't think it would happen, but on a whim I mentioned to our good friend Jason (yes, the brilliant one who helps us with everything) about the idea or possibility of recessing the fridge into the drywall in between the studs to gain some inches.  He said "No problem" in usual Jason-Fashion.  (that guy has busted out concrete in his basement walls to make windows and put a laundry room upstairs  -- he can do anything).

Here is what it looks like:

and the plug is up on the top there so that we don't lose depth putting the cord into the wall behind the fridge.

Thank you Jason!!!!

Entryway into the kitchen from the foyer area.  Are you a fan of the rounded entryways?
At first I was on the bubble but now I think I love them.

Because something crazy happened --- I saw this picture on Design Sponge and loved the idea of painting those arches:
and then a couple days later a high-stylin' friend emailed the same picture to me as an idea.
bless her heart.
and bless her heart for her bathroom and laundry room because I loved it so much I just ordered the same penny tile for our kid's bathroom and laundry room.

very very busy weekend ahead of us here.
hope you are just as busy.
work hard everyone, whatever you are doing!

my uncle ( in manhattan--do you remember pics of HIS house?!) is a big time, high-end re-decorater and he ALWAYS puts penny tile in his bathrooms. And they are ALWAYS to die for.

I love the windows, too. :)

I love the penny tile!! Your house is going to be so so so awesome, I can't wait to get up there again! Great job, Tiffany and David!! Do you think it would be a great spot to start a Christmas caroling party in a motorhome? I think so.
