Gray is the New Blonde

Didn't you know?

And it is a good thing, because my gray highlights are the real deal holyfield, folks.  I didn't pay a dime for these bad boys.  How can being so fashionable be so simple?

It's interesting what gets the boot when you are on a budget.  I haven't done anything with my hair for over 7 months now and it is showing.  Amanda told me the other day that she misses my short hair.  Then I told David and said maybe the next cut should be short again.  But then it took so darn long to grow it out!  But David surprised me and said, Yes.  And I sort of got excited.

I chopped it off in the first place like 12 years ago because I did nothing with it besides pull it back in a bun-thing every day and when I actually DID do my hair, it took like four and a half years.  I have the kind of hair that is the curse, takes forever to get it curly to look good and forever to get it straight to look good.

Who am I writing to anyway?  Do you care about my hair?

If you were my grandma you would tell me that I looked awful with short hair and you would say"whatever possessed you to cut off your beautiful hair?"  And then you would play scrabble with me while you ate shelled pistachios.

And my grandma did say that to me.

I kind of feel like I sort of had a different personality with short hair.   Is that a weird thing to think/say?

For those of you who know me, be HONEST, which looks better?  I wish I had access to my pictures and I would post two pictures for you.

I like my long hair, I guess I just need someone to give me lessons on how to take care of it and how to make it look good.  Long haired friends can apply for that position.  Or friends with dry or frizzy hair. Maybe it would help if I got it cut more often.... I need hair advice people.

I am so tired and this is a lame blog post.  I think that is why my blogging is so infrequent lately.  Well, really it's a few reasons.  I am tired and don't make sense late at night.  Most nights I am at 1977 (thank you girls for the painting help last night) and that is when I blog.  I don't have wireless here so gone are the nights of laying in bed and writing away.... which I love to do.  I love writing.  And gone are most of the pictures because I can't put them on my laptop, edit them and play with them.  And I don't have my normal camera and I don't want to use up borrowed camera too much... (thank you jess)

And I am stopping before I become the lamest ever.  Forgive me.  I am just in such a huge transition right now and struggling in so many ways I really should just hold off on blogging until we are settled into our new home and I'm not such a spaz.

The carpet is in by the way.  It is smelling less and less like the people who lived there before us.  Isn't that always the best???  When your home finally smells like you and your family and not someone else?  Is that another weird thing to say?

Tell me to go to bed.

I have that kind of hair too. Not so much curly but not so much straight. Long does take a million years. That's why I cut mine three years ago and still have it short.
You're right about the impact of hair length on personality. I'm much less demure when my hair is crazy short. Both people are me, I'm not fake or real either way just different.
The first time I went from super long to super short I was in college. I went home with my room mate one weekend and mentioned that the short hair was a recent change. Her Grandpa stated that he would have liked to have the chance to see it long and at least formulate his opinion on the matter before I cut it short. I was like "Sir no body's opinion matters but mine, not my grandpa's and certainly not yours but since you're old I'll keep these thought to myself"
His wife was horrified at his rudeness and continued to apologize for the remainder of the weekend (She, by the way loved my hair and had asked for styling pointers before this whole thing went down)
By the way, you posted a short hair picture a while back in your post about the favorite maternity dress and I thought it looked great.
How's that for a rambling comment? I'm not going to proof read it either.

love you! I only know you with short sassy, and even though I have long, I don't do a good job at the do. Layers in very conservative way so, no work, but growin' it waay past that 6 week later haircut. Hmmmm.

you are funny. i like your hair long, but you look really cute with short hair too, so if you feel like a better person with short hair, go for it! haha :) i want pictures of the carpet! (but no pressure since everything is chaos right now for you)

Oh, Tiffany, I feel your hair drama. Because it doesn't matter. Except that it TOTALLY matters. I used to always wear it super duper short in hs and college, and then after I had Lane I grew it out. Then I cut it because I wanted the old short hair personality back, except that I realized I didn't look very feminine. I wasnt expecting to feel that way! Maybe it was because I had become a mother and housewife and I loved being a woman more or something?? I know, it doesn't really make sense. I think my face and my body had changed enough that I looked really ugly with short. So I grew it out again. It is a pain to do, but sometimes it is nice to literally throw it in a ponytail every day. I like to know that sometimes (like on Sunday's) I can take the time to look really nice. Well, maybe others don't think so, but I do.

So...I say cut it; with the warning that you might feel this weird loss of femininity, but that probably sounds really ridiculous, right?

And I didn't know you with short hair, but I did love the old photos.

However, I absolutely love your hair now and wish that my hair were as thick and beautiful as yours is! I love the way it looks now! Don't cut it! Wait 6 months when you are not in the midst of utter chaos around your house and new baby!

Geez, I am not really helping, am I?

I'm never indecisive, can you tell?

Oh and a GIGANTIC rule is, You can NEVER cut your hair short when pregnant. Why do pregnant people always want to cut their hair?

Oh and I only knew you with short but have thought you looked super beautiful in pictures with the longer hair.

You're hot with short hair! It's so funky and fresh...yup, I said it. You should totally go funky fresh again. Isn't your birthday coming up soon...October? perhaps I shall send you a present....

and I can't talk to anyone after 9:30pm. My mom made the mistake of calling the other night at like 11:00--she heard all the negative crap...that's what you get for opening that door. Sometimes you just need to go to bed. It's never as bad as you think it is at midnight and your already thinking about 6am.

You know what I say, cut it girl!!! I wish I could pull off short hair like you do, but NO!!! Let's just say Doug maybe said this to me looking at some great college pics, "Now I know why you were still available for me at your ripe age!!" Thanks a lot babe! Do it!! You really have the BEST short hair ever. There will be sooo much short hair envy in MD when girls (and guys) see you!

I am loving all of this advice, keep it coming! I am still up in the air though -- it is about half and half....

maybe I need to do business in the front, party in the back.

I'm having the same hair debate with myself. In order to give you an honest opinion, I would need to see some pictures. I'm pretty positive that whatever you decide you'll look gorgeous! Keep us posted!

My hair is really hard to manage too. It is kinda curly, but not the nice curls where you can wake up and go...you have to make the curls work or straighten it. And really, I am not the type pf person who wants to take time out to do my hair...which is why it is ALWAYS up. I cut off 14 inches three years ago and loved it most of the time...my mom and Josh hated it.
Why is hair so difficult. I loved your short hair, but your long hair looks great too. And you are right, it takes SOooo stinking long to grow out, that it is sad and hard to cut it.
Not that this helps you at all...but it is what i was thinking...lol!

tiff, I love your hair both ways - but I know how much more time it takes you to fix it when it is long. It is so easy to fix when it is short, a little gel a cute clip and you are out the door. But to totally confuse you more I love it when you have time to curl it and put it part up with clips.
Your just so lucky to be so beautiful to wear it both ways.
The most important thing is that you feel good about yourself.
love you lots -
