I have always felt bad that I never blogged about my brother Tyler's wedding.
When my brother Tyler was married last June, he and his wife Krystyna hired a professional photographer in Utah, but Ty put me in charge of his camera to take the pictures that the the pro couldn't see. I spent the day with his camera. His camera is better than mine.
So I took no pictures of my own.
And then at the bakersfield reception I didn't get any of my own either -- I was too busy making sure my boys didn't dance their way into the pool. They had hired a friend of my sister's to shoot it. I loved her pictures and wondered if I would ever get copies.
Just recently I realized that all of her pictures were on Krystyna's facebook page. I loaded them all up into a folder on my desktop and now I get to share my favorites with you.
9 months later.
What a beautiful and magical night this was. Tyler and Krystyna have impeccable style and taste. Is impeccable the right word? They are funky and retro and quirky and darling. To know them is to love them. I felt like the reception portrayed them so well. Beautiful vintage books, vintage bikes, a typewriter guest list, grilled pizza, delicious salads and fresh strawberry shortcake. Bottled soda, dancing, great company, fun,
richard.
just wouldn't be complete without richard.
great family friend.
I love putting on an event with my family -- although I would probably never say that in the thick of things. My sister Cortney, Ashley and I worked on all of the flowers and helped with centerpieces. I made Krys's bouquet. My mom made the most delicious food, my dad BUILT the dance floor that went over half the pool (yes, Tyler jumped into it at the end of the reception), the boys strung lights and hung lanterns, Krystyna set up the entry way and made collages of all of the pictures....
It all came together beautifully.
And we all get to do it again next week. My other brother, Travis, is marrying Miss Ashley Faust and we couldn't be more pleased. I will be sure to use my own camera this time so I can blog about it in a timely manner. I just know this reception will be off the charts as well. Ashley has a degree in design and works for Anthropologie, we will just leave it at that.
And just to make sure this post is overloaded with pictures I will leave you with the funniest-ever string of pictures of the swabbs and schmeese:
find your own strawberry shortcake.

Tyler's a cutie! He was always my favorite! Where is Travis getting married? Are you coming to town for a reception? Would love to see you!
Beautiful reception. Your whole family seems to have amazing taste. I remember going to your mom's once for a RS thing and drooling over her sewing/craft room and her backyard. And Richard, I forgot about Richard! He was always a smiling face in the OK Ward.
Beautiful pictures! Your boys are ADORABLE in those bow ties and sneakers! So so cute.
Abby, I will be in Utah, but I will not be able to go to California for the open house. I am sad!
emily, I am so glad you know richard. he is such a nice man. he is hilarious! He still loves the New Kids on the Block and listens to their music and watches their videos --- I love it!
I wish you were still in Bakersfield so we could get together when I am in town....
