A couple weeks ago at church a friend handed me a bag of things that she thought I might like (she likes old things, I like old things). In this bag, among other treasures, was a small collection of tea party-ish gloves. 6-7 pairs of them. I wondered what I would do with them considering I have two boys and tea parties weren't in the near future. I took the small pile downstairs and put them in a rubbermaid costume box thinking about that 'someday' I would have a little someone to wear them.
That someday was on Tuesday.
Here's how it went down.
The Schmeese was looking in a coloring book that happened to have a picture of Frozone, from the Incredibles, in it. He started asking questions and remembering about Frozone. And then it happened again.
"You gotta make me Frozone".
oh, max. seriously bud?
"Yeah, with those cool glasses and that blue and white and those boots and those glubs."
so we looked up a picture on google.
I wasn't going to begin to attempt "the blue and white" so I suggested we started with the glasses.
Cereal box cardboard, aluminum foil, black stripe.
No, Max couldn't see out of his cardboard aluminum foil glasses. That happened to be hilarious.

Yes, we miraculously had white snow boots borrowed from a neighbor (thanks, Melissa)
p.s. they are not girl boots --- they are polar bear frozone boots.
When we got to the gloves part I told him we only had his brown snow gloves.
But they have to be WHITE glubs mom!
But Max, we don't have any white gloves.
Maybe we can paint my brown glubs!
ummm... no.... we can't sweetie.
But they have to be white.
Can I just mention right here that this kid's tenacity is one of his most endearing qualities? He is JUST like his mama. Doesn't take no for an answer, knows what he wants, is determined to get it. Too imaginative and curious for his own good. That is why it doesn't bother me. Well it does for a second and then I remember how it feels. Because I still feel those feelings.
I rack my brain thinking about how we can get white gloves...... until.... I .... remember.....
those tea party gloves.
I nearly flew down to the basement and threw open that green rubbermaid lid. I was so happy to give them to him and make his little Frozone dreams come true.
and they did come true.
Messing up all of eastern Maryland and breaking snowfall records with his netted glubs.

Great photos! Love the costume and attitude! More stories for your someday children's book!
That is the coolest thing I've seen in a long time. I love it!! The glasses are awesome!
Can I just say I LOVE this?? LOL AWESOME!!
By the way, check out Lukas' polka dot bowtie on the blog. SOOOO stinkin' cute! LOVE IT! Thanks again.
It's so fabulous that he has complete confidence that you can make him into anything!
Al, it's becoming a bit ridiculous -- like that parachute post.
JEss, I just went and checked out your blog --- oh my gosh! Lukas is ADORABLE in his bowtie. ADORABLE!
max and parker would get along SOOOOO well. same kind of determination and refusal to take no for an answer in both kids. parker would have loved to demand to be dressed up as mr. incredible right along with him.
oh my gosh.. I laughed out loud when I saw his "frozone boots" absolutely NOT girl boots. I love this boy.I wish you could bottle up his "there is nothing I can't be or do" attitude and send it to me in a jar so I can open it when I am feeling BLAH. I love the little bits of Oliver in the pictures too. I love playing the game of what I think THEY are thinking...what is Oliver thinking about his older brother in these pictures? "oh gosh. not again." or "someday. someday I will have my own cardboard glasses and furry boots!"
ok, so did you explain to Max that his hero is black and he's white? There's a life lesson for you kid!
Haha! I loved this post and I miss that kid so much!!
Linda, that crossed my mind, but he never said anything about the skin thing. I was seriously wondering what I would do if he said "You GOTTA make me black/brown". What would I say/do???
Cort -I got a couple other pics of Oliver too... it is cute to see him in the background of pictures....
MAryclaire,
I am happy to know there are others like him out there. How do you deal with it? It is hard to find a balance between "no means no" and sucking it up as a mom and getting the energy to do something that they would think it so great. Do you find the balance hard?
we should get the boys together when I am out in Utah in April!
That's why I give things to YOU! You thinb=k outside the box. Such a cute story!
Keep it coming Carolyn! We will put it to good use!
