I have been reading lately. Mostly
this (it is a pretty loooong article, but well worth the 15-20 minutes it takes to read it). And I have been thinking.... and thinking... back and forth, forth and back. Mothering is such a delicate dance --
how much do you intervene,
how much do you allow, when to be strict, when to relax,
when to say yes, when to say no.
Hopefully that dance is choreographed by Mia Michaels or Sonya Tayeh (who were not choreographers tonight -- but wasn't tonight's show great? loving that bollywood handstand)
I will write a post about the dance that is mothering one day but for now, read up and start your own wheels turning...

that handstand was amazing. I kept thinking last night while I was watching the show how amazing it is that their bodies can do such things.
But on to mothering- I am so struggling right now, and feeling like a failure. I live on my knees.
"We focus so much on our own children," says Elkind, "It's time to begin caring about all children." To that I say, "Amen!!"
Thanks Tiff for the great article that prompted me to think and think. I hope more and more people read it. I am always amazed at how many kids don't start driving at 16 anymore-- It is a great example of kids growing up slower. Funny thing is that the parents of the 'non-drivers' always want my kids to take them places. Ultimately we all want our kids to become independent and happy-- it is something we parents can't make happen. We have to let go (or loosen our hold) and guide our kids to get there on there own.
I love those pictures. They make me giggle.
the show was great! especially for the opening night...gonna be a good season!!
Judy, I'm glad you read it. I wonder how many people will. it is really well done. My husband read the whole thing, loved it. We passed it on to our Stake President and he read and loved it too.
really interesting articles. thanks.
and yes, fellow fans, the season is going to be great. I agreed with the choices tonight.
I love the expression on his face in the first picture. You can almost hear him thinking, "am I going to get away with it?"
Thanks for the link. So great and those pictures are awesome!
