A couple friends wanted a picture
****----Voila------****
your wish is my command.
Where did I score such cool vintage shelf lining paper????? Only from a lady named Violet that I used to visit when I would go on walks with a wee Schmeese. (this was back in the day when I lived with my in-laws). Violet was out getting her mail and we said a little hello as we walked by her. She stopped and watched us continue down the street, smiling. I got about 20 steps from her, thought about the, The Mailbox, and turned around, went back and introduced ourselves. Seriously, if you have seen that movie, you would have done the same thing. She invited us in and we talked for an hour. She was a widow, had one daughter that lived far away and was very lonely. Sounds familiar.
We visited Violet dozens of times during the year we lived there.
Once, she took me into her basement where she had a pile of boxes that were doomed for the trash. I saw an unopened roll of shelf paper and told her it struck my fancy. She laughed and said I could have it if I wanted it.
And so, last week, nearly three years later I finally got around to lining a drawer with it. And I am very pleased with how it turned out.
What do little muffins have to do with Violet and the super cool shelf lining paper?
Not much, but I did make muffins the day I took that picture, so I threw them in there because I could and I could look all homemaker-ish. You know, lining drawers and baking muffins.
Whenever I see little muffins like those I repeat a movie line in my head over and over.
"crash crash" "Vroooom crash crash"
Hint: It's from the 80's.
Man, if you get it and you are not in my immediate family, you get 1500 points.

Please tell me that line is from the Ewoks movie. I could be wrong, but I think it just hit me! Love the vintage shelf paper! It looks great! What a great feeling to finish a great project!! We're still "working" on our chairs.
The 1500 points have been awarded folks! I can't believe you got that so fast. Wanna join our family????
Do you remember that movie??? STarcruiser- crash crash. I loved that little house they went to with the little old people and the little muffins they made. I remember really wanting those muffins. And her curly blonde hair. That movie was scary though huh? I remember being scared at the end.
I still can't get over that you knew that.... so great.
I want to see your chairs. What color did you decide?I worked on our sink last night. a chore and a half!
I just watched The Mailbox a couple of weeks ago with Garreth. And bawled. I need to find me an old person to visit.
Thanks for the picture. Me likey.
Oh, and the muffins were way good. Totally worth posting about. Can I have the recipe again? I forgot to write it down when you told me last time. :)
I don't think I've even heard of that movie. Hello??
Great story!
Ewok Adventure Sarah????? Sooo entirely 80's sci-fi. It's part of the Star Wars craziness...
Jess -- Umm... I will try and give you a recipe. You know me and recipes.... I start with one and by the end have something different. By choice though! I sub wheat flour for white, applesauce for oil etc....
Yes! I am so excited about my win! My little sister, Ashley was obsessed with Cyndal (spelling...who knows?) and that movie. It was a really family favorite. Sometimes I still wish I could travel across the country in one of the bubble tent things and watch crazy fireflies. It is a CLASSIC. I should try and rent that! Oh yea, it is a little scary at the end, but for me, completely humiliating at the same time. My family (and by family I mean my older sister) used to tease me saying that my hair looked like the giant monster! Awrg! It was kind of true. Long, dark and stringy.
