Sunday Confessional

Sometimes, when I am rocking nearly 30 pound Oliver while standing in the back of Sunday School or Sacrament Meeting....

When I know if I make one move or try to sit down he'll wake up....

When my back is killing me...

When I am dying to take off my heels....

When my forearms are numb from the pain of the weight...

And my right hand is firmly gripping my left wrist to cradle his hefty backside....

When the minutes are ticking by --24. 25. 26. 27

When I think I just. can't. stand. up. and. hold. him. any. longer.

I pretend I am on the Biggest Loser and am in some sort of crazy weekly challenge where the contestants have to hold a SLEEPING 14 month old (because we all know that their weight doubles when they are sleeping) for as long as possible.

I win every week.

Only problem is that I don't get a check for $5,000, a fancy vacation or get to fly and visit my family for the weekend.

But I do get to sneak in a prohibited workout on the sabbath.

And a happier baby.

I stole my month old nephew during Sacrament today and my arms were burning by the end. How out of shape am I?

Berli - it is an ultra miracle when Oliver falls asleep at church. miracle.

It takes an extreme amount of effort, almost not worth it. today he fell asleep while I was standing with him in sunday school and I took two steps forward to try and sit down and he wailed. I had already been standing for 20 minutes. I stood back there for another 10 until the class was over. I . was. dying!!!!!!!!!!!!

The joys of church and nap times. Our time changes to 11am in January. That's the exact time my daughter takes her nap every day. This will be interesting. She's not a cuddle me to sleep kind of gal... More of a don't touch me, lay me down, I'll hold my own bottle, set my binky next to me and walk away kind of gal. Yep, this will be interesting. But worth it.

When I saw the title and started reading I was sure that you were going to confess that you hate going to church with a 14 month old...because that is my sunday confessional! Dean is SO active at church! I envy those mothers whose little kids are just sitting there on their laps...we only made it through the sacrament today (and that was only because I gave him a bottle and then he started trying to get out and making noise when I would not let him in the aisle and that was the end of it, we spent the rest of the time in the hall...I hate church during naptime!

That has to be one of my favorite posts ever! Maybe I will play with you next Sunday. The problem is that Ryan won't fall asleep, he just wants to get down and play. That will be my own challenge. You will probably win...
