Dear David,

Thank you for your lovely e-mail. We are so glad to know that the songs have brought some happiness to your family. We haven;t been doing concerts in the past two years and have none planned as of now. If any arise we will let everyone interested know the details.

Peace be with you and your family, and happy celebrations of your wife's birthday. My best to her,
Karen Peris

My Innocence Mission Friends,

My wife fills our house with all of your music. With many activities she plans for our 2 boys, she will play one of your CD's to frame the activity in inspiration. She dreams of visiting your home/studio in Lancaster to meet you, hear your music live, or only to gather mental images to add to the fabric of contentment that your songs inspire in her. Do you have shows planned this fall? Is it possible for my family to take a field trip to Lancaster to see where "the magic happens"? Her birthday is in October, and I would love to learn of any possibility to bring her to an event.
Please kindly share with me any possibilities that exist in the coming months.

Best Regards,
David Rueckert

Months ago I casually mentioned to my husband David that the best thing that could ever happen for my 30th birthday would be to see The Innocence Mission live.

Karen Peris sings to my children every day. She is the soundtrack of our every morning. She sings while we flip pancakes, she sings as we paint, as we clean, as we garden, and eventually as we drift into afternoon naps.

So, this morning as I read the above email, framed by my husband on our kitchen table I was moved to tears. He had been emailing contacts for The Innocence Mission trying to make something happen for months and he finally got a response. Not perhaps the response that we had originally hoped for, but a response nonetheless, and from Karen herself.

Karen sends her best to me.

Karen's best is a lot.

I will be posting other birthday thoughts this week, but am short on time as the day is to be celebrated and I have much to do.

The past 30 years have been wonderful. So very very wonderful. Karen's fabric of contentment is only a piece of the life quilt that has been carefully sewn throughout my years. I appreciate you being a part of it.

Thank you for blessing my thirty years.

much love,
the very happy birthday girl.

and who introduced you to The Innocence Mission...
It's perfect music for the Fall.

good going Dave. Sorry you guys couldn't see them. For what's it worth, they're amazing live. Whoops that's probably not worth a lot (;
But if it's any consolation, they canceled on us here in Brooklyn last year...imagine how distraught we were...

Happy Birthday btw. I don't think I ever knew our bdays were so close together.
