Yesterday it was rainy and blustery and yucky-blucky but we were determined to get out of the house. Sometimes the monotony must be broken.
To House of Pets we went. To buy a whale.
You see, Max has been obsessing over one animal to the next. Here is the order since birth:
1. Goggies.
2. Cows.
3. Gucks.
4. What-ee (can you figure out that one?)
5. Hippo
6. A Wee-oh Wee-ol
Dolphins are wee-oh wee-ols and sharks are wee-oh wee-ols. He has a jar full of little plastic animals: farm, jungle, sea, prehistoric and all of the gray and fishlike sea creatures have collectively become wee-oh wee-ols.
So, once again.... we go to House of Pets. Dirty place. Possibly the dirtiest pet store ever. Possibly should be shut down. But many wee-oh wee-ols. And a very fun and cheap zoo.
Bought a simple goldfish. Took it home and put it in a extra extra large jar. Added tap water. Yes, tap water. I raised a mighty fine carnival goldfish on tap water and flake food for two years in high school.
"A wee-oh wee-ol!" yelled MAx pointing at the jar on our kitchen table.
Long story short, Whale died 3 hours later. Apparently the chlorine in our tap water fried his gills.
I called up Nate, the pet store man and he says, put him in a ziplock with some water in it and put it in the freezer and bring him back when you can.
Really? I say - In the freezer? People do that?
All the time - he told me.
So wee-oh-weeol is in our freezer door next to the orange juice concentrate.
We are going tomorrow to House of Pets to get a new wee-oh wee-ol and some "water conditioner".
Wish us luck.

YOU are a fun mom my friend. Email me about when you are coming out. I'd luuuuuuuv to get my camera on your cute face.
I completely agree on wanting to get out on Tuesday. I don't know what it was... I actually packed up my three and went on a trip to Target in the rain just to get that Barbie movie and a few other things that could have waited for a better day... I just didn't want to stay in the house. However, after going out in the rain with them, I didn't feel like going back out again for anything else. Including the mail...
Max sounds so cute! Good luck on the next fish! We got a beta fish once, as a gift, and even though it lasted several months, it died on us, too. We found it difficult to go get another one for fear of it dying again, but my Chloe has recently been asking for a fish and remembering the old beta. I don't know how much longer we can hold out before we have to get her one, but it certainly is a lot easier to take care of than a new puppy or kitty. Let us know how it goes with the next fish.
SO, was Max confused or sad about it dying??
I'm sure the success rate on gold fish is slim...
And no, what would a "whee-do" -- or whatever it was-- be?
what-ee
What-ee = Horsie!!!
Max was just confused yesterday about Whale not swimming around anymore. When he came downstairs this morning after waking up and sat on the counter while we made toast he looked around and said "Where's wee-oh-wee-ol??" "Where did it go wee-oh-weeol?"
He's in the freezer, honey. Of course I didn't show him wee-oh wee-ol.
:)
ana- definitely agree that we are not doing dogs or kitties around here. That is why we have the fish. A tiny little responsibility for the wee schmeese.
Oh the adventures of fish! Yes. Let's play soon!
That's a nice little life lesson, but tragic too. The only pets our family will ever have are fish and I am sure they won't live long. Good luck with the next one.
Now that's hilarious!!! Any other frozen delights in that freezer of yours??
so max accidently saw Whale in the freezer a couple days ago (we haven't taken him back yet) and now Max tries to open the freezer all the time saying "wee-oh wee-ol."
accidentally. I hate when I misspell.
