Quite the week at Girl's Camp. We made some changes this year and added some things into the schedule. Big changes we made:
Gory Hike - First-Fourth Years practice First Aid Certification on screaming, fake bleeding, fake wounded actress Youth Leaders. Inspired by a friend of mine who told me what her stake did growing up. It was hilarious and most of the youth leaders ended up losing their voices. (wish I had pics)
Fourth Year Double Overnight Hike - first time ever in the history of the Baltimore Stake (that I know of) that any YW have gone on a backpacking trip. We felt strongly that our girls are capable of doing these things and we knew it would be good for them to conquer something challenging. Ann Coy, our stake YW president took the girls with her husband and all reports were positive. Hooray! We are planning on tweaking things a bit for next year, but hopefully this is something we can continue to do!
Here we are waiting for our girls to come home with posters ---
There they are!!!!!!!
Love love love love..... hugs.... miss yous.... smiles.
I didn't get nearly as many pictures of camp as I did Youth Conference. I had WAYYYY too many responsibilities and taking pictures unfortunately took a back seat. Luckily I grabbed it for the welcome home.
Our theme was BOOT Camp (building our own testimonies) and we actually had a real simulated BOOT Camp with a Retired Marine Drill Sergeant. That was kind of great. Yes, included in the drills were TEN COUNT PUSHUPS. Ten of them. That is 10-- ten count pushups. hard. core.
Also different this year was giving our Youth Leaders more responsibilities. They were INCREDIBLE. I had such a wonderful group of girls to work with and they did all that was required of them. fantastic. Couldn't have done it without them.
I do love my calling. I love the learning process and how I am being stretched in so many ways. I love those girls so much. I hope they know that. If they don't then I haven't done my job.
Thank you girls for all of your hard work and for the laughs and for ALLLL of the songs that are STILL stuck in my head.
Camp songs are seriously the best.
And couldn't have done it without my craft model--modeling the bandanas we were going to make at camp. See, mom, look at those lashes! Everyone who sees him thinks he is a girl. Doesn't help that I put a bonnet on the wee guy.
that sloppy face and slobbery chest gives him away.
Until next year!

That is AWEsome!! In the Fredericksburg Stake the 4th yrs went on an appalacian trail hike every year for a few days of camp!! It was amazing, and there is such a strong sense of bonding that occurs when people hike together, having to talk (or continually gasp for air) without technology inthe way. LOVE LOVE LOVE this. And your little miss-ter is aDORable. Man, those are some crazy long lashes. Are you still looking for a german teacher job so I can be your neighbor and go to camp with you???
What fun!! I am a little nostalgic about it all. and...THOSE EYELASHES!! I had no idea. Those are incredible. What a little handsome Tommy.
