update

blogger won't let me upload pictures.  Not in the house yet.  Kitchen is taking twice as long as expected.  LOOOOOOOOOVVVE my cabinets though..... and I am going to LOVE my countertops too.  Now the goal is please pretty please by my birthday.

The penny tile looks great.  I didn't lay it, but I was there till nearly midmight with dave last night sealing it.  new washer and dryer delivered today.  I went with the toploading washer without the agitator.  Someone had recommended that kind --- was it on here?  I can't remember and after looking at my options, that is what we decided on.  I love the look of the front loaders, but why in the world are the bases to those things so darn expensive?  Just couldn't hack it on our budget.   Can't wait to wash clothes.  And we got the double domjso sink from Ikea.  It weighs like 542 pounds, but it's great.  Hope it installs okay.

and can I say how much I love the person on here who told me about the 10% off coupons from Lowe's.  We have saved SO much money using those.  they even let us use them on our washer and dryer on top of a labor day sale and a energy star rebate.  We nearly ended up saving nearly $300 on both appliances.

Tomorrow the pink bathtub and tub surround gets a fresh white enamel coating.  Saved $100 on that too.

getting closer every day.

Yes, I had one of those coupons when I moved into my house and it would have saved me a bunch of money if I had had any to spend...two years later this house is still so broken! I love that you chose to fix yours up before you move in because otherwise I'd be feeling so sad for you!

I can't wait to see more pictures and I am hope that you get that happy birthday you are wishing for.

We have a bathroom with a puke BROWN tub and pot..i was going to rip them out, but it would be waay cheaper to paint them...especially with a 10% off coupon ;0) im excited to see some 'afters' pictures! Im sure it will all look fabulous and will be well worth the effort :0)

I'm excited to see the finished project! Possibly planning a trip out that way next fall, 2011. You think you'll be done by then ;)?

Oh and... An idea I have had but not executed, When you are finished, make a coffee table book of all the before and after pictures and you can journal in it, just copy from your blog. Then it can sit on your coffee table of your newly remodeled family room for all to see.

oooh, my bathroom here has the coated walled bathtub. It's so awesome- like shrinky dink over your old tub. Looks SOOOO new and saves SOOO much money. Can't wait to see pics, but am super jazzed that things are coming in! Way to not fold with the front loader trend (although I occasionally drool over a red front loader...) and am happy that your bday is coming!!

Tenille-

the coupons are at the post office. You just ask for a change of address form and you will get a paclet of coupons. I think that you used to be able to pick them up just on the counter, but I think they realized people were using the coupons too much :) You can also register your home on the lowe's website and they will send you a coupon. I think home depot too.

And you can use your lowe's coupons at home depot.

de nada amiga.

I had gathered about 5 or six of them from different post offices and registered online and got more...

I WISH though, that I would have thought through EVERYTHING I needed before I headed there to buy because now we are out of coupons and I am embarrassed to go back to the post office...

We had the bases "made". We had our construction guys just make a rectangular box that was the same dimensions of two risers put together, and covered it with a laminate in the event of water leakage. It was about a third of the cost.

the guy told us that once we do that there is no warranty on the appliances. apparently you have to use their bases in order to have the warranty. .... It's just a rip because you pay so much for the washer and dryer and then you have to buy the $150-$200 base...

I brought that up with the appliance guy because my friend did the same thing you did and that was his quick response. don't know if it is true for every brand though....
