A Retro LDS Sunday

Hello Sunday friends,

Here are some great LDS commercials for your Sabbath viewing pleasure. Go on, get the family and huddle around the computer.

How is it that I have never seen this one?

I hadn't seen any of these either, mostly from the 70's, but a few toward the middle were really pulling on my heartstrings today.Mostly about being patient with our little ones. I think I need to watch those at the beginning of every day ---I need the reminders constantly. Especially when little someones color all over your blue houndstooth chair with a black pen.
And here are some more familiar ads from the 80's:

Set one
Set two
Set three

Interesting to me how these commercials evoke some of the feelings I had as a child growing up in the church -- the warmth I felt through family and service. I wonder why the church doesn't air commercials anymore. As cheesy as most of them are, they can really stir up some real emotion. A friend I met through selling on etsy who is not a member of the church mentioned how much these commercials affected her as a child. She is the reason for this post.

Enjoy.

PS -
here are some modern LDS commercials that my sister in law, Tiffany shared with me.

Swashbuckler
Runaway Stagecoach

Classic. Most of them are before Tyler and my time (we just watched them all and were dying) but there were definitely some that we remember and some that we've never seen and loved haha. Thanks for sharing!

They are great. I think the cutest/funniest/saddest is that little boy eating his cereal that says "I was trying to!!!" Oh my gosh, it gets me every time. I am cryingsad tears through my laughter.

I am happy you enjoyed them.

I was just having this conversation with a friend about this last week! I wondered why they don't make these anymore! I love them! And I think it brought a lot of good will toward the church. There you were watching Oprah, and then you'd feel the spirit during the commercial break! It was great! (although, was I really watching Oprah back in the 80/s? Probably not.)

Thank you for this post. It seriously touched my heart. You know what? I never thought to youtube these commericials. Brilliant! Yes many of them had extra cheese, but they do remind us all to put our families first and be patient and attentive to our children. These commercials mean even more to me now then they did when I was a child. Thank you! *hugs*
